Family trip to Hocking Hills in early June- what's open?

We are thinking about renting a cabin in the Hocking Hills area in the first week of June due to other vacation plans getting canceled, but I’m not familiar with the area. I realize that many trails are currently closed, but wondering if there are enough open trails to make the stay worthwhile? Also, are there lakes nearby for kids to swim in (not picky about the quality necessarily!) and are these open now? Any other ideas of available activities? We are not as fussy as we used to be about what is fun, and may just be happy to be away from home :).

Hi @emarie. There are many trails and activities open now. No word yet on when the mail trails will open, but you can find the remaining ones that are open here: List of trails that remain OPEN during COVID-19

Lake Logan would be a great spot for you and your family to swim. It’s conveniently located right off the highway and close to most activities. https://www.hockinghills.com/lake_logan.html

Other fun activities are canoeing, ziplining, putt putt which is 5 min drive from lake logan. (https://www.hockinghills.com/members/Adventure_Golf_at_Rempels_Grove.html)

Here’s a list of all outdoor adventures: https://www.hockinghills.com/outdoor_adventure.html

Thank you so much for the quick response! Do you know if the swimming area at Lake Logan is open currently?

I believe it is. Lake Logan is actually a state park in and of itself which remains fully open. I forgot to mention this before, but it also has a beach which opens up to the swimming area. The last time I was there, there was a volleyball net too. Also, picnic areas and a 1 mile hiking trail (viewable at the lake logan link above). There’s also a marina where you can rent boats and paddle boats. They even a paddle boat in the shape of a duck, it’s pretty cute. I bet the kids would love it! https://lakeloganmarina.com/

Awesome, hope you have a great time!

Hello! My family is camping this weekend, the trails are still closed, correct?

@Sierra_96 most trails are closed, but there are still some that remain open. You can find that list here: List of trails that remain OPEN during COVID-19

I just wanted to give an update for those who are planning trips in the next few weeks- we just returned yesterday from a fun trip to the Hocking Hills area.

We stayed in a cabin near Lake Logan and our kids (ages 13, 10, and 7) had a great time swimming at the beach there and using the hot tub at our cabin. The trails we visited were: Rockbridge, Boch Hollow, Lake Hope peninsula trail (our kids also liked swimming in Lake Hope), Clear creek Lake trail and Hemlock to Fern trail, and Rockstall nature preserve (nice waterfalls here when we went, and rocks that the kids could climb on). We limited our hiking to 1-3 miles with the kids and the hills were challenging for them, but fun! There were beautiful rock formations on most of the trails we took. Our kids liked the rockbridge and rockstall trails best, but they also enjoyed swimming in the creek at Clear creek. Since we’ve never been to the area before, we don’t know what we missed with the trails that were closed and were happy with our trip!

I hope this helps someone else plan- thanks to @finn for all the help you gave me!
